After discussing our own asthma-related RNA-Seq results with many researchers and collaborators who use in vitro and in vivo disease models, the most common question asked by them is whether their favorite gene is expressed in the cell type in question. For pulmonary disease research it is very helpful to have cell type-specific information, rather than that based on whole lung as is available in most online databases. We built this app so that researchers could easily look up RNA-Seq gene expression results for their favorite genes in specific lung cell types. The datasets included were obtained from the Sequence Read Archive and analyzed using taffeta. We include results for all relevant condition comparisons and use samples that passed QC according to our analysis with all conditions for each dataset. The app was created by Manuel Ruidiaz, Maya Shumyatcher, and Blanca Himes.
